Guild Guide

Hello and welcome to the Guild! Here writers and critiques like you gather to trade ideas, tips, and talk about the hottest books. There are a few rules I'd like you to observe though:

#1 The most important rule of the Guild: Do not flame others on their work. If you don't like it don't comment it's as simple as that. Be aware that you only get one warning. After the second offense you will be removed or blocked from this group.

#2 Please refrain from submitting anything too graphic without some sort of warning. Respect the fact that not everyone approves of the same views as you do.

#3 Do not ask to become an admin. You'll be invited upon another admin's suggestion or if you show interest in a position.

#4 If you wish to advertise a group don't hound members to join your group. Simply ask an admin if you can leave an ad. Please do not spam the homepage.

#5 If you have a conflict with another member be mature about it and resolve it peacefully. If you believe it will get out of hand ask one of the admins for help.

#6 In any work if you use anything that isn't yours give credit. Theft of any kind is not allowed nor will it be tolerated

#7 Please make formal critiques. That means no abbreviations and preferably good grammar, sentence structure, and punctuation.

#8 Be insightful when writing a critique. Do not write simple one sentenced comments such as "Good job!" or "Well done!". A critique is designed to help a writer. Praise is good, but if you have suggestions throw them into the reply.

#9 Please do not submit anything to the featured folder. An admin will decide on what goes into the featured folder. If you think there is a piece of literature should be in this folder tell an admin. You only get five suggestions a month to this folder.

Hello Hello!

It certainly has been a while hasn't it. I do apologize for my extended absence from here and the lack of activity. But that's why I'm here again, trying to change all that. But I can't do that alone, I need people to help me out since our other staff have moved on to bigger things. And with my college schedule about to increase, I'd still like to dedicate some of my time to helping this group grow. As such, I am asking for any volunteers to help with some opening positions

You will be the heart of this group. You job is to make sure the group runs smoothly and efficiently. You are basically our eyes on the group, so you have more power than you think. On most issues we will likely deffer to you.
  1. Full control over the galleries - What comes in to this group is up to you.
  2. Homepage layout - You'll be able to design the group how you want it to look. Be reasonable here, though, since this is how members first see us
  3. Member management - since you will be our eyes on the group, you'll likely be handling any disputes here. But don't worry, we won't leave you out to dry. If you have any questions just ask a Co-Founder or the Founder

Co- Founder
Your job is refinement. You'll be handling the finer details of things such as affiliation, member recruitment, and favorite suggestions

  1. Group Affiliation: As a co-founder your job is to help this group grow. In order to do that, we need more affiliations to get the word out that our group is THE place to be
  2. Member recruitment: You'll have full say over who comes in. If you've seen someone that's caught your eye, don't be afraid to let them know that we're open to writers of all levels

Sound cool? If you're interested just send a note and we can get started with all the fun! Let's aspire to be more and to help others to their goals too!

Hey there, I'm a longtime writer who made the jump into professional editing- what would the etiquette be for offering my services to the group?

I could set you up with a position as an editor if you'd like. It would be an admin position and you could offer your services to any of the pieces that come in. If you're interested please let me know, it would be nice to inject some life into this group :)

Oh, I'm sorry, I meant "Offer" as in professionally.  Here's a journal explaining it:

Ah, I see. Well if you like I can make a journal promoting your services. The offer to join still stands however

I'm never certain how to tell, so I hope you don't mind me just flat out asking; how active would you say this group is currently?

To be honest, not very. One of our staff is in college and I don't know about our contributor. I kind of gave up looking for admins since the last post I made got no response for the job of admin
